Intrinsic defects in photorefractive bulk CdTe and ZnCdTe

We report the observation by electron paramagnetic resonance spectroscopy of a new intrinsic paramagnetic defect in Ge-doped bulk CdTe and ZnCdTe, which we attribute to the A-centre, a donor/cadmium vacancy defect. It is characterised by monoclinic I symmetry and a g-tensor with principal values g_1 = 1.9483, g_2 = 2.1697. The concentration is in the 10~15-10~16 cm~-3 range. From photo-EPR its level position is estimated to E_v + 0.6 eV. direct c 1999 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
