摘要

The dissolution of silicate minerals is widely believed to be the rate-limiting step of the aqueous mineral carbonation process. We have studied the dissolution behavior of the magnesium silicate olivine as function of pH and temperature by comparing literature data available for low temperature conditions with our own experiments at 90℃ and pH 2 to 10.4. At acidic to neutral conditions our data could be fitted to: log(r) = -0.547·pH - 8.46, with r [mol/cm~2/s] being the dissolution rate. This is in good agreement with extrapolations from low temperature experiments and confirms also the order of pH dependency for higher temperatures.
