A special heartfelt thank-you to GPA Midstream for awarding me thernDonald Katz Award. I am sincerely humbled - the list of previousrnrecipients is definitely an esteemed group.rnLest you kindly think otherwise, I go back a long way. In the fall ofrn1967, when I was a young Assistant Professor at the University Of NotrernDame, my chairman J. T. Banchero asked me to join him and (the notrnyet retired) Don Katz for dinner. Katz was visiting Notre Dame to giverna series of three talks about his many areas of endeavor. It bearsrnmentioning that both Banchero and Katz had once worked together atrnthe University Of Michigan in their Department of ChemicalrnEngineering. It was a memorable evening. Don was a cordial guest asrnwell as a great conversationalist. I have always fondly rememberedrnmeeting him.
