Many prospectors and developers now gather data from tens to hundreds of monitoring towers. With this expansion of focus comes a requirement for industrial strength data management, quality control and analyses capabilities. Today, mistakes are made whenrnselecting the best resource sites, designing optimal wind farm layouts and forecasting future yields. This paper first highlights common quality control errors including icing events, tower shadow and bearing drag. It then presents the details of a tool that has beenrndesigned to address the lifecycle of wind prospecting sites. “WINDSERVER” is designedrnto manage the prospecting equipment infrastructure, data acquisition, quality control andrnanalysis. WINDSERVER is designed to allow developer’s access to quality controlled datarnstreams and to integrated tracking of their monitoring sites. See Figures 1 and 2 for anrnoverview on the effects of icing and tower shadow. Figures 3 and 4 show plots generated by WINDSERVER for a client.
