The metal finishing industry has been under strong pressure to replace its current wastewater treatment based on a physical-chemical process; electrodialysis process is becoming a good alternative for wastewater treatment. Electrodialysis is a membrane separation technique where ions are transported through ion-selective membranes from one solution to another using an electric field as the driving force. Blends of polyurethane and polyaniline were obtained with the aim of producing membranes for electrodialysis for recovery of baths from the finishing metal industry. In this work, characterisation of membranes was done by swelling and thermogravimetric analysis. The parameters for ebctrodialysis are the transport number and percent extraction. The results obtained using these membranes were compared to those obtained with the commercial membrane Nafion 450. After the electrodialysis, it was verified that the membranes presented a good zinc ion transport as well as percent extraction compared to the commercial membrane.
