In this paper, unknown material constants of a thin orthotropic plate are identified by using a hybridprocedure consisting of numerical and experimental parts: The bending problem of a cantilevered thinhomogeneous orthotropic plate is solved by using finite elements to obtain equations that containdeformation data, loading and orthotropic elastic moduli. Then, the bending deformation of the plateis measured experimentally. Experimental measurements and equations obtained from finite elementsolution are combined in the inverse method to determine the unknown elastic moduli. The results arecompared to results obtained from standard mechanical tests.
