Dynamic spatial analysis in vector fields has advantages over scalar grids in dealing with variable levels of resolution in time and space. In this paper, hydrologic dynamic models in vector field are presented by using partial differential equations. A vector field data model--- vector map algebra is investigated to represent dynamic models in GIS. An example of water flow and erosion/deposition processes in a small catchment area demonstrates the conceptual advantages of representation of dynamic modelling with vector map algebra are greater simplicity and precision
