This paper presents an integrated approach that employs the storm water management model (SWMM) and the two-dimensional inundation model (2DIM) to simulate inundation. The interactions between surcharge and discharge of the manhole are considered dynamically. An integrated computer system has been developed to realize the proposed integrated approach and validation of the system has been demonstrated by simulated results of a small area located in the Taipei city. The simulated result also shows that the computed water stage can be considerably over-estimated if the dynamic interaction between surcharge and discharge of the manhole is neglected in the simulation
