Safeguarding interventions for two historical sites in the Middle East

The paper deals with two distinct safeguarding interventions on historical sites carriedrnout in the Sultanate of Oman. The first refers to the activities of soil consolidation and foundationsrnunderpinning carried out in 1999 at Sohar Fort, a military presidium located on the Batinah coast andrndating back to the 8th century AD. The second refers to the activities of stabilization of a vertical cliff,rnwhose instability was jeopardizing the integrity of the archeological site of Shisr, where, in 1991, thernremains attributed to the legendary city of Ubar were detected and disclosed.
