Slope consolidation of Monteagudo de las Vicarías castle (Soria)

This paper describes the consolidation work on the slope of Monteagudo de las VicaríasrnCastle, located in the province of Soria (Spain), carried out between September 2004 and March 2005.rnThe tasks were carried out as emergency works, under the management of technicians from the RegionalrnGovernment of Castilla y León, according to the directives provided by the geotechnical-structural studies,rnin order to resolve issues related to the castle resting on a calcareous crust, under which a clay layerrnwas being eroded. This paper explains the most important antecedents in relation to the consolidationrnwork on the slope and provides a summary of the work carried out to reinforce the foundations of thernCastle and the structure of the Honour Tower. Moreover, it includes the results of the instrumentationrninstalled and controlled during—and after—the reinforcement works.
