Different vegetation indices have been introduced to estimate the vegetation density using satellite images but almost all of them have some deficiencies such as sensation to change in sun angle and budget, atmospheric effects and noise contamination. In vegetated area as the degree of vegetation increases, some of them begin to saturate. In this article, a new vegetation index (ADPVI) is introduced using composite data and the result of this index is compared with the result of one of the most popular Vegetation indices (NDVI) [1]. Experimental results on NOAA images demonstrate that this new index reduce the deficiencies of NDVI and also is more reliable to be representative for vegetation density. It is less sensitive in compare with NDVI.
