The application of ground penetrating radar in the voids detecting and engineering construction of highway

With the fast developing of road transportation in China, the abrasion of the road surface has become serious now. We would get twice the result with half the effort if we can use the Ground-Penetrating-Radar(GPR) to detect the voids under the pavement before it is destroyed. With some examples, this paper discussed the possibility and effectiveness of applications of GPR to detecting the voids beneath highway pavement. The application in the highway construction, such as different stages as highway line prospecting and designing, constructing stage, construction completing and checking stage, using stage, reconstructing stage and so on, has been also discussed in detail.
