Novel durian-like nanostructures, composed of Fe3O4 “durian core” and TiO2 “durian thorns”, have been successfully prepared by combining a simple solvent-thermal route and post-temperature treatment. Especially, the TiO2 thorns-like structure could be grown on the Fe3O4 microspheres by the post-temperature treatment. The surface morphology can be changed from core-shell structure to durian-like structure. The introduction of TiO2 brought Fe3O4 microspheres a better dielectric properties, leading to the microwave absorbing properties improvement. Furthermore, the maximumre flection loss of durian-like Fe3O4/TiO2 (−15.71 dB) was lower than that of Fe3O4 (−10.04 dB). It may be due to the special durian-like structure. These results indicated that the as-synthesized durian-like Fe3O4/TiO2 microstructures might be attractive candidate materials for the microwave absorption applications.
