When salable product was unavailable, due to excessive electricalnoutages for maintenance or repair, the need to upgrade the electricalnsystem/equipment became apparent. When operation must proceed while anynchange is in progress, the revision is very difficult. Parallelnoperation of electrical equipment of various vintages and ratings isninevitable for some extent of time. The special considerations andndesign features involved in the successful implementation of thisnproject are discussed. Electrical distribution system concepts andnequipment modifications which improve system operability, enhancenreliability and contribute to safety are described
