Growth dynamics of fullerenes and related materials was investigated by in-situ observation of black body radiation and LIF imaging using a high-speed video camera combined with a laser furnace apparatus. It was found that high temperature condition (more than 500℃) is necessary to obtain high yields of fullerenes, where an exothermic process occurs in the formation of fullerene cage structure. Furthermore, double laser vaporization technique was developed in order to shed light on the role of metal/alloy nanoparticles in the formation process of SWNTs.
