We applied the biogeochemical model Wetland-DNDC to simulate N2O emissions from partly temporally water-logged soils of a forest ecosystem.An important objective of theour study is to investigate how detailed the soil water regime has to be modeled in order to reachsatisfactory N2O emission simulation results.Different approaches for integrating water table dynamics will be analysed and compared with regard to their capability of modeling total N2O emission and N2O emission dynamics,respectively.Because nonautomated calibration procedures are time consuming and because they do not necessarily yield optimal parameter estimates,we linked Wetland-DNDC with UCODE,a software for inverse modeling which uses a modifiedGauss-Newton algorithm.
