The passage averaged flow model proposed by Adamczyk was proved to be a more rigorous and complicated model than the mixing plane model in the flow prediction of multistage turbomachinery using steady state methods. In order to simplify Adamezyk's method, the novel time- and passage-averaged operators are developed to avoid body forces and blockage factors appearing in the passage averaged equation sets. To evaluate the deterministic conveniently, a semi-empirical method is employed instead of overlapping solution domains. Therefore, the interface approach is still used in the present programming to simulation the flow field in the multistage environment. Two computational investigations of an industrial centrifugal compressor composed of an impeller and a vaned diffuser are analyzed and compared, one with the deterministic stresses model ad the other with the mixing plane model. The result indicates that the deterministic stress model provides more realistic flow field prediction than the mixing plane model.
