This paper describes a novel arrangement of the electrical capacitance sensor system with which the distribution of concentration of solids conveyed in pipelines can be measured more accurately as the mass flow rate varies on a large scale. There are three primary sensor configurations in one sensor system and they behave as 16-, 8-, and 4-electrode system respectively. The Finite Element Analysis (FEA) method is used to obtain the data for realizing control and evaluating the structure. This arrangement can guarantee the precision of dilute flow and the resolution of dense flow. The main system performance parameters for tomography are the absolute capacitance change of every pair electorde. The optimum electrode designs should have no negative capacitance sensitivity but with the sensitivity maximum. It will make the tomography method more easy and accurate.
