Modern Pipeline Technilogy-Specification Trends and Production Experience

Pipeline steels continue to undergo rapid development. making this segment of the steel idustry a fertile filed for adopting new metallurgical ideas and production concepts. The deepwater Black Sea Pipeline is providing technical challenges for Double Submerged ARc Welding (DSAW0 technology whilst development in West Africa, Brazil and the Gulf of Mexico are requiring a variety of new materials solutions. Meanwhile, cost pressure are favoring improvements inquality of High Frequency Electric Welded (HFERW), linepipe so that it can be substituted for seamless (SMLS) pipe in increasingly greater water depths. Examples of recent production experiences are presented.
