Vehicular ad hoc network is one of the real life application of mobile ad hoc network. Main aim of Inter vehicular system is to avoid possibility of critical events by providing information about safety and non safety message to driver and passenger. Dissemination protocol is used to distribute information from source vehicle to destination vehicle. In this paper, we presented segmentation based data dissemination protocol based on headway model which is fundamental concept to divide transmission range into different segments in order to distribute minimum probability of collision in last segment. Proposed model uses IEEE 802.11 DSRC standard to avoid the problem of hidden node and reliability. In segmentation arrangement of transmission range, relay node is responsible for forwarding and acknowledging packet to source vehicle. Proposed protocol selects relay node on the basis of location, direction and speed of the destination vehicle with minimum probability of collision and latency. Performance of the proposed protocol is compared with existing segmentation based dissemination protocol.
