Dona Francisca Hydroelectric power plant ― design and construction of the RCC structures

Dona Francisca HPP on the Jacui River, in the State of Rio Grande do Sul, in the southern region of Brazil, have a installed capacity of 125 MW. Its construction started in 1998 and the commercial generation of the first unit happened in February 2001 and the second one started in April 2001. Dona Francisca HPP is the last downstream hydropower scheme in the cascade of Jacui River, in which are in operation the Itauba, Jacui, Passo Real and Ernestina hydropower plants. This paper describes, besides the RCC aspects for design and construction, general aspects of the layout, foundation, drainage and instrumentation.
