Mathematical models of fire behaviour based on the physics of the main relevantrnphenomena have to deal with the flow of air and combustion products inside the fuel bed andrntherefore they need values for the drag coefficient of the particles comprising the fuel bed matrix.rnIn the present work, drag coefficient values have been obtained for the fuel particles in a bedrnof Pinus pinaster needles. For these fuel particles, an expression has been derived to calculaterndrag coefficient as a function of the bed porosity and the velocity and temperature of the flow insidernthe bed.
