This position paper provides a brief report on a case study within BT focussing on the creation of a performance model for a large software based system which reflects an object oriented design operating in a distributed environment. It builds on the experiences reported in (1). At the time of writing, the case study is still ongoing and results are still emerging. We hope to be in a position to report more fully at the WOSP98 workshop itself than we are able in this outline.
