Urban Public Transit System in the city of Sao Paulo, Brazil, its Operations and Use by People

This paper describes the current situation of the public transport system in the city of Sao Paulo, Bazil, and its metropolitan area, with emphasis on current developments. A concise evaluation follows, upon which some critical issues, requiring further consideration, are highlighted. In conclusion, an overview is presented of a novel medium-capacity mode currently under development by SPTrans, the local public transit management agency.
