Remote execution of simulation models

Internet technologies offer tremendous opportunities to expand the use of simulation techniques outside traditional boundaries. Collaborative development of simulation models, sharing of simulation models across enterprises, and management of knowledge relating simulation projects are seen as some of the key possibilities. This paper presents an internet based toolkit, which allows for remote execution of models developed using commercial simulation software. The proposed solution uses the simplicity of the HTML form to exchange information between users and the World Wide Web (WWW) server, which incorporates a database to store data required for simulation models. This toolkit also allows users to access animated displays recorded during model execution to compare results form different scenarios. This paper describes the development of the toolkit and outlines its applications and benefits.
