Recently, research of the polymer electrolyte fuel cell with the aim of applying to stationary power source appears to be progressively activated. The residential polymer electrolyte fuel cell system needs a natural gas reformer to transform methane into the hydrogen-rich reformate gas with CO concentration less than 20 ppm. Except the catalyst for low temperature water gas shift reaction, ITRI has developed several catalysts for autothermal reforming, high temperature water-gas shift reaction, and CO preferential oxidation reaction. In addition, we have integrated these catalysts to assemble a 2 kW natural gas reformer operated at steady state with hydrogen flow rate of 30 L/min., H_2 concentration of 40% above, CO concentration less than 40 ppm, and the cold startup time less than 60 minute.
