Calculation of the critical local buckling load in PFRP shapes

An assessment is presented on closed form equations to calculate the critical compressive load for local flange buckling in pultruded wide flange profiles. Since there are 17 physical test results the study considers the standard 203x203x9.53mm profile. It is shown that Equation (4), taken from the American Society of Civil Engineers 1984 Manual No.63, is suitable for adoption in the future preparation of simple design guidance having universal recognition.
