NEURAL NETWORKS ARE OF RESEARCH IN ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE IN WHICH PROGRAMMERS ATTEMPT TO EMULATE THE PROCESSING PATTERNS OF THE BIOLOGICAL BRAIN THERE HAS BEEN AN EXCITING RESURGENCE OF INTEREST IN BOTTON-UP APPROACHES TO ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE IN WHICH MACHINES ARE DESIGNED TO IMITATE THE PHYSICIAL THOUGHT PROCESS OF THE BIOLOGICAL BRAIN. A DIGITAL NEURAL NETWORKS COMPUTER CAN BE DEFINED, AS AN INTERCONNECTED SET OF PARALLEL SWITCHES OR PROCESSORS THAT CAN BE CONTROLLED BY INTERVENTION. NEURAL NETWORKS ARE VERY DIFFERENT FROM EXPERTS SYSTEMS IN WHICH HUMAN EXPERTISE HAS TO BE MODELED WITH RULES AND FRAMES.
