Current Status and Future Applications for DMD~(TM)-Based Projection Displays

The Digital Micromirror Device~(TM) (DMD~(TM)) is a reflective array of fast, digital light switches that are monolithically integrated onto a silicon address chip. Digital Light Processing~(TM) (DLP~(TM)) projection display systems based on the DMD provide high-quality, seamless, all-digital images that have exceptional stability and freedom from image lag. This paper gives an update of current applications and manufacturing techniques and addresses potential projection display and other applications of the future.
