Abstract: Techniques have been developed for making 3D coincident LDA measurements within an annular S-shaped duct of complex geometry. In order to illustrate these methods aerodynamic data is presented relating to measurements of the axisymmetric wall boundary layers at inlet to the duct. Particular attention is given to the accuracy and limitations of the measurements produced using these techniques. A variety of information is presented including mean velocity components. Reynolds stresses and triple correlations of the fluctuating velocities. The results show that many of the terms in the Reynolds stress transport equations can be determined within a specified accuracy. Such measurements are becoming increasingly important for the validation of computational codes and the further development of turbulence models.!11
