Epoxy resins have good electrical, chemical and adhesive properties. So epoxy and epoxy based FRP are applied to a lot of fields and used for anticorrosive equipment. However, durability under acidic or alkaline condition has not been reported systematically and it is difficult to estimate their life. Epoxy resin cured with various amount of hardener were immersed in water, sulfuric acid solution and sodium hydroxide solution and the degradation was evaluated by various analyses. All the specimens immersed in sulfuric acid solution showed the color changed layer which agreed with the sulfur penetration region. Penetration depth and weight change in sulfuric acid solution increased with increase of the amount of hardener. Residual hardener in a cured resin plays an important role, that is, it promotes the generation of micro cracks and cracks. Then the flexural strength decrease abruptly.
