Nonlinear process control-which way to the promised land?

Nonlinear process control systems analysis and synthesis techniques are reviewed with an emphasis on recent results in each area. These include analysis tools for stability, robustness, controllability, observability, and nonlinearity measures. New synthesis results in both the differential algebraic and nonlinear H_propor.to frameworks are discussed. Finally, some promising directions for future research pursuits are identified.
