CONCEPTS AND APPLICATION OF EHS RISK MANAGEMENT TO ADDRESS BUSINESS NEEDS

Although a desirable goal, total elimination of EHS risk is seldom an achievable milestone for any type of system or operation. As systems become more complex, effective risk reduction to acceptable levels is itself a difficult task; techniques to broadly assess and rigorously prioritize risk are a business necessity. Specific risk identification and mitigation techniques in common use today are usually resource intensive to implement. This paper presents an integrated approach to generating prioritized risk profiles for organizations and systems that can be a useful tool for compliance to QS9000 and ISO 14001 criteria.
