A multi-disciplinary team consisting of the Kansas Department of Transportation, Russell County Highway Dept., Kansas State University Department of Engineering, a vivil engineering consulting firm, and a composites fabrication company supported by several materials suppliers and the IDEA program of the Transportation Research Board (NAS) working jointly designed, manufactured, proof tested, and instaled in less than one day a short-span bridge on existing abutments the first all composite bridge on a public road i nthe United States.
