Digital fiber optic remote gauging system for oil storage tanks with temperature compensation

Abstract: The digital fiber optic sensing system used for real-time remote measurement of the amount of oil in a tanker is described. The system consists of a fiber optic (FO) interface-temperature complex probe, a driving mechanism for the FO probe, and a microcomputer-based integrated data processing unit. It has been proven by the analogue experiment of the system that the gauging of the amount of oil is accurate within $POM@0.2%.!3
