Preparation of High quality Nafion Solution and Nanometer Pt/C Electrocatalyst

Nafion solution for casting any three-dimensional high quality film is prepared by adopting a higher b.p. solvent. The shortcomings of the commercial Nafion solution, which is usually prepared from alcohol-water solvent and whose cast film is brittle, cracking-off, and has low strength, high solubility and degraded spectrum structure, etc., have been overcome. Nanometer Pt/C electrocatalyst is made via a high dispersing chemical reduction method. The particle sizes of Pt and C are ca. 3 nm and 50 nm, respectively, and nm Pt particles are uniformly distributed on nm C ones. By using this high quality Nafion solution and Nanometer Pt/C electrocatalyst, the high performance MEA for PEMFC has been cast via a layer by layer casting method.
