To satisfy cost constraints, application implementation inembedded systems requires fixed-point arithmetic. Thus, applicationsdefined in floating-point arithmetic must be convertedinto a fixed-point specification. This conversion requiresaccuracy evaluation to ensure algorithm integrity. Indeed,fixed-point arithmetic generates quantization noisesdue to some bits elimination during a cast operation. Thesenoises propagate through the system and modify computingaccuracy. In this paper, an accuracy evaluation model basedon an analytical approach is presented and valid for all systemsincluding arithmetic operations. The LMS algorithmexample is developed and its validity is verified through experimentations.
