COPERNICUS POD SERVICE OPERATIONS

The Copernicus POD (Precise Orbit Determination) Service is part of the Copernicus PDGS Ground Segment of the Sentinel missions. A GMV-led consortium is operating the Copernicus POD Service being in charge of generating precise orbital products and auxiliary data files of Sentinel-1, -2, & -3 missions, for their use as part of the processing chains of the respective Sentinel PDGS.Although the characteristics and the requirements are different for the three missions, the same core POD setup is used to the largest possible extent. At the moment, the CPOD Service is operating 3 satellites: Sentinel-1A, -2A and -3A, and is ready to support operations of Sentinel-1B.This paper presents the status of the CPOD Service in terms of operations and orbital accuracy achieved for the different orbit products of the different missions, focusing on Sentinel-3A preliminary results.
