摘要

This paper describes a commercially available high temperature sealing material supplied in sheet form that is entirely free of any organic binder. The material is based upon a highly refined form of the natural mineral vermiculite, a member of the mica series of minerals, a mineral renowned for its chemical inertness and thermal durability. This sealing material is being evaluated by CERES Power Ltd , a UK based SOFC developer, with promising results being reported during both long term trials and thermal cycling. The relevant features of the material are described in this paper and guidelines for the successful use of compressive seals in SOFC applications are discussed.
