RD OPTIMAL TIME SEGMENTATIONS FOR THE TIME-VARYING MDCT

In this paper, we extend the set of RD optimization algorithms for the MDCT with the flexible time segmentation algorithm and compare it with the existing single tree time segmentation algorithm. We describe the application of transition windows in a time-varying MDCT and in RD optimal time segmentation algorithms. Experimental results show that the flexible time segmentation for a time-varying MDCT can outperform the Single Tree time segmentation algorithm in several cases.
