The submitted results are a part of a study on activated sintering of ferrous-based P/M materials. Experiments are carried out on tricomponent system Fe-13Mn-1C_(graphite). By reason of manganese high affinity to oxygen, high pressure of its vapour and its low diffusion mobility sintering process promoting has not only theoretical but high practical importance as well. The possibility to use boron in concentration <0.10wt.% as promoting additive was investigated. Influence of type of boron additive (elemental or chemical compound) on mechanism and kinetics of Fe-13Mn-1C sintering process was examined. The kinetic dependances were obtained by quantitative metallographic analysis, measuring of thermo-electromotive force and micro-hardness of surface. It was established that at sintering temparatures in the range 1223-1423°K boron promotes structure formation processes. The boron addition as low temperature melted compound increases this effect.
