摘要

This paper presents the definition and development process of the ATV spacecraft structure subsystem. Due to the nature of the ATV mission the ATV spacecraft structure has to fulfil a particular mixture of functions and requirements usually related to different types of spacecraft such as launchers, satellites or elements of the Space Station. These functions together with governing principles and the aspect of European industrial share had a strong influence on the definition of the subsystem architecture and the design concept. The development is featured by close interaction with system requirements, concurrent maturing of other subsystems and a success oriented development logic which posed challenging boundary conditions for the development of the ATV spacecraft structure subsystem.
