Conventional physical vapour deposition vacuum processes are on a high industrial level, whereas the pulsed laser deposition technology suffers from a lack in productivity, although the laser process certainly comprises technological advantages. To compensate for this deficiency, a new technique is using a laser melt-spraying process, where the material is molten with a pulsed Nd:YAG-laser and sprayed off the surface by an additional centrifugal force which is generated by rotation of the target.
