Functional Requirements for a Collaborative Platform for Power Transmission System Operators: The Case of South Eastern Europe

The economic development and the use of technology have led the developed and developing countries to an increasing demand for electrical power to fuel their activities. To respond in that challenge, transmission system operators should be provided with information systems that can predict the needs for electrical power, monitor and manage the status of their system and facilitate the exchange of electrical power between the neighboring nations depending on their needs. In this paper, a system that covers the aforementioned needs of the transmission system operators for the South-Eastern Europe is proposed and the respective modular architecture is presented. The system addresses the needs of the major transmission system operators in Balkans and south eastern countries as these were collected in the context of a European-funded research project.
