At present space-borne synthetic aperture radars (SARs) operate in the microwave (centimetre or decimetre) band. Therfore they appear ineffective, when it is required t9o observe natural formations and other objects located below vegetation and/or under the surface layer. Such information is necessary to solve various economical and ecological problems.
