摘要

Hydroxyapatite (HA) is widely used for filling defected bones or prosthesis coating. The release of HA particles mounts an inflammatory response and if uncontrolled, could result in implant loss. We have recently demonstrated that HA particles induce the activation of human polymorphonuclear cells (PMNs) and increase secretion of their inflammatory mediators [1]. However little is known about the molecular mechanism(s) of HA-mediated inflammatory reaction. The purpose of this work is to determine the role of IL-8 pathway in HA-mediated activation of PMNs.
