This study presents a systematic evaluation of howremote sensing indicators relate to official crop yieldtime series for wheat, barley and maize over Europe atthe regional level. These indicators consist of cumulatedvalues of 1-km fAPAR products from SPOTVEGETATIONthat are currently being operationallyused in the MARS Crop Yield Forecasting System(MCYFS) and which are compatible with futureservices that will be provided by the EuropeanCopernicus Programme.The study demonstrates how regional fAPAR timeseries are able to provide valuable information for manyregions about crop yield potentials during the growingseason.
