摘要

The U.K. government is currently in the process of implementing the refurbishment or rebuilding of most schools. In 2005-6 spent £1.6 billion on improving primary school buildings (BSF). For many primary school children, the school is the first journey away from the family and will provide their working and social environment for the next ten years. In order to build environments that are appropriate for the users and the tasks conducted within them it is imperative to assess the needs and requirements of all stakeholders. However, little attention has been paid to the requirements of children. This research considers the ways children use and perceive primary school environments in order to inform a more child centred approach to design.
