Alder is on of the faster grown and producer species in hyrcanian forest sites at the north of Iran and included in about 7.6 percents of the total stand volume of Iran hyrcanian forests. It's often makes mixed communities with beech, oak, elm, ash, persimmon, and box .Elasticity and ecological adaptability of this species with hyrcanian forests in Iran can have an important role in commercial production of wood. Alder coexistence with actinomycetes (nitrogen fixers) causes' soil fertility, so it can be used in mixed reforestations to increase trees dimensions. Alder can deploy quickly in sites that have suitable mineral soil with sufficient wet land appear as progressive tree in primary steps of progression and as a nurse tree in next steps.rnIts elevation range of distribution is different range from plains (include Alnus glatinusa) to elevation about 2000meters (include Alnus subcordata).rnAlder entered Iran about 8300 years ago from Caucasus.
