This paper presents theoretical features of spiral separation, experimental and commercal approvement of gravity technology on the basis of spiral separators for coal slimes preparation. It was founded that spiral separation efficiently operates under coal slime size in range from 3 to 0,1 mm and it requires preliminary desliming by means of spiral classifier or low diameter hydrocyclones. Spiral separation is an environmental process which allows to enhance technological and economic performance of coal fines concentration, increase the combustible mass recovery from tailings, reduces fresh water consumption and bring down operation costs.
